Volt is the best decision I have made as a head coach in 25 years.
Whether you’re an experienced strength coach or have never worked in the weight room before, Volt’s customizable training programs help you save time and provide training to all your athletes.
Our team of CSCS-certified strength coaches designs every program for the specific strength, endurance, and injury mitigation needs of each sport.
While every program focuses on training fundamentals, position-specific programs offer an added performance and injury focus for specialized positions (like pitchers and QBs).
Based on injury rates among male and female athletes, Volt’s gender-specific programs contain different training considerations around upper-body strength development and ACL injury prevention.
Choose from Level One (beginner) or Level Two (intermediate to advanced) programming for every sport, depending on the needs of your athletes.
It’s not magic—it’s science. Volt automatically varies training volume and intensity over time to help athletes peak and stay healthy, based on the science of periodization.
Periodization optimizes training results so athletes reach peak fitness when it matters most.
Periodized strength training has been proven to reduce sports injuries by over 66% and overuse injuries by 50%.
British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2013
Reduced in-season training volume allows athletes to maintain performance while improving durability.
Periodic “unload” weeks let athletes’ bodies acclimate to recent training loads to prevent overtraining and optimize performance results.
You’re the expert on what your athletes need. Take Volt’s expert-built training and customize each program to your preferences.
Choose from 1,000+ exercises in our Movement Library to customize every workout for your equipment.
Account for school breaks, finals weeks, and more by adding Unload and Off Weeks in your training calendar.
Write notes to one athlete or your whole team—your athletes will see them at the top of their workouts.
No matter how many changes you make, Volt automatically adjusts your periodization so you're always tracking toward your goals.
Create a strong team culture and empower your leadership with team leaderboards and accountability features—so your captains know who’s been putting in the work.
Based on each athlete’s strength, Volt prescribes exactly how much weight to lift—along with reps, sets, rest intervals, and more.
Athletes log each set from their easy-to-use Volt app, complete with technique videos and step-by-step instructions.
Volt tests your athletes when they’re primed for strength gains. In-workout Challenge Sets automatically track their progress in your Analytics section.
Throw away your summer workout packet. With Volt’s user-friendly mobile app, athletes can log workouts from wherever they’re training—even over summer break.
Backed by over 50 years of research from the Gatorade Sport Science Institute (GSSI), Volt’s Nutrition Center provides exclusive articles, videos, and printable, educational PDFs to share with your athletes about nutrition, hydration, recovery, and more.
Gone are the days of train-til-you-puke workouts. With decades of sport science research behind us, we know more about proper athletic preparation than the days of punishment sprints and no water breaks. Volt’s modern training philosophy means:
Every workout shouldn’t leave your athletes on the floor. Good training means being intentional about when you give 100% max effort—so athletes are fresh enough to perform on game day.
When athletes train to failure, their form inevitably breaks down. With Volt, athletes train to perform by prioritizing quality over quantity, just like the pros.
Volt not only builds scientific rest intervals into every workout, but also encourages enough days off and recovery modalities (like foam rolling) to help your athletes maximize their gains.
While every athlete needs to build general strength and fitness, different sports require specific training and injury prevention methods.
Volt’s training is overseen by our Strength Coach Advisory Board, chaired by legendary Nebraska strength coach Boyd Epley, Founder of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Considered the “Godfather of Strength and Conditioning," Boyd Epley served as the University of Nebraska’s head strength coach for 35 years and founded the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in 1978. According to ESPN, “Epley is arguably the single most important individual in the history of strength and conditioning in college athletics.” Epley returned to Nebraska in October 2014 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning and currently oversees the department he built.
Mike Favre is the Director of Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning at the University of Michigan. In his 18 years of experience, Coach Favre has worked extensively with collegiate, professional, and elite international athletes. In 2011, Coach Favre was named the NSCA College Strength Coach of the Year.
Justin Smith is the Associate Director of Athletic Performance at the University of Vermont (UVM). He oversees the strength and conditioning for men’s and women's ice hockey, and men's and women's alpine and Nordic skiing.
Devan McConnell is the Head of Hockey Performance at UMass Lowell. Prior to this newly developed position, Devan served as Director of Sports Performance at UMass Lowell, as well as a strength coach at both Stanford University and Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning. A native of Lake Stevens, Washington, Devan resides in Massachusetts with his wife, Erica, and their two children, Finnegan and Dublin.
Mike Nitka was the long time Director of Strength and Conditioning at Muskego High School in Southeastern Wisconsin. With 35 years of experience, Coach Nitka has been frequently honored for his contributions to the field, including being voted the NSCA High School Strength Coach of the Year in 1996.
Patrick McHenry is the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Castle View High School, and a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Board Member. In 2005, he was selected as the NSCA High School Strength Coach of the Year, and has received the Strength of America Award from the President's Council on Fitness every year since 2010.
